My shop is named Equinox and is Located 169 Great North road, Grey Lynn, Auckland!

I will consider all inquiries, but please note not all inquiries are accepted onto my books- I will however always explain why I’m not the best fit and try offer suggestions for new artists when possible.

FAQ
Do I do Late nights/weekends?
I tattoo between Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 4:00pm
Will it hurt?
All tattoos will hurt to a degree (for most of us anyway!) some spots are more sensitive than others, and everyone is different, so what was excruciating for one may be totally fine for you! Feel free to ask me for advice on placement if you are worried about the pain!
Do you offer payment plans?
Unfortunately I currently do not offer any payment plans, deposits are made by bank transfer, and the banking info will be given when we confirm a suitable date and time. The remaining balance needs to be paid on the day either in cash or via bank transfer after the completion of your session - please don’t drip feed me money prior to appointment time.
How do I look after it?
Please have a look at the aftercare section on my website!
Do you offer touch ups?
I will offer one touch up, up to 12 months after your appointment, free of charge, any further touch ups required will be a minimum of $150! Please not places like hands and feet are prone to fading fast and I will not offer free touch ups on those!
Do you have vouchers?
Vouchers are available - please submit a contact form expressing your interest.
Do you have Eftpos?
At the present moment I don't offer Eftpos as a payment option in the studio.
Can I come for a consult?
I do offer consults, however to utilise my time I ask that you do your best to describe your concept via the submission form, we can absolutely book in a time for a consult if necessary.
Can I bring a support person?
Absolutely! Please just be mindful that this is a small space so keeping it to as few people possible is always recommended.
What if I don't like the design?
There is an expectation that if you have inquired with me for a tattoo, that you have researched and understand my style of work and artistry, and that there is an element of trust in my design skills and style. HOWEVER - If you don't like your design it is so important to speak up and feel safe doing so - my end goal is always to make you happy and am not easily offended! If the changes still fit within my wheelhouse I will be able to make small and minor changes to tweak it, any huge changes that may mean a full re draw will be up to my discretion based off how much drawing it may take me. You may be asked to re book if this is the case but will always try my best!
RESCHEDULES / What if something comes up and I can't make my appointment?
I allow one reschedule per paid deposit - reschedules must be made at least 2 days prior to your appointment otherwise we will need to rebook you with a new deposit. Please contact us ASAP if you need to reschedule.
If are a repeat rescheduler (I know some of y’all can’t help it) you will be asked to front half of your appointment as a non refundable deposit. Please respect this, it always makes me awkward to ask but unfortunately shuffling an appointment multiple times can leave me with big calendar gaps!
Please note if you cancel / reschedule on a Saturday Booking more than once I will no longer book you on a weekend spot - these are my most requested days so make a huge impact on my work if there are multiple reschedules.
If you no show you will not be booked with me again!
What happens if I'm late?
Please do your best to make your appointment on time -however if you are going to unavoidably late, please email me as soon as possible with an expected time of arrival.
If you are more than 30 minutes late to your appointment with no prior communication this will be treated as a no-show with a forfeit of deposit. I will leave the studio after 30 minutes of no communication.
If you are running over 30 late you may be charged for this time.
How old do I have do I have to be?
strictly 18+.
How do you decide the price/ how do you charge the pieces?
This is a fun one to try explain !
I charge by the piece rather than by the hour - I I’ll either give you an exact quote or a rough estimate if I’m not 100% sure on final details etc. this is a ballpark but you will never be charged above that quote.
If you ask for extra elements to the tattoo or to change sizing or any other details I will always confirm and check the quote you before starting as this may affect the original quote .
there are many contributing factors to consider - is this something I tattoo often and comfortably, how large the piece is, the placement, draw time, complexity, elements, detail, levels of shading etc.
Terms & Conditions - Please read before booking
Deposits:
- All deposits are non-refundable. One reschedule is allowed with a transfer of deposit, if rescheduled at least 2 days before your appointment, and will be held at a maximum of 6 months. If you reschedule a second time, the deposit will be forfeited and a new deposit required to secure your new appointment.
- The minimum deposit is $50
- The deposit is required within 48 hours of booking a slot.
- Deposits are non-transferable.
Designs:
For any complex design work your draft will always be sent out a night prior to appointment - this allows for minor tweaks and adjustments. The draft will be line work only - Shading will be done on the day.
Major design changes may result in a new appointment time and new deposit to be paid - please be as specific as possible when booking in with me - I always want to make sure I’m getting it as right a possible the first time around!
Small pieces like script / symbols / small butterflies etc will not be sent out prior unless discussed prior
- I work exclusively in black and grey - please do not book in if you are after colour!
- I reserve the right to decline any requests for concepts in a genre that does not fit with my style, for example; water colour, paint stroke, traditional, realism etc.
- I reserve the right to decline requests for traditional or cultural concepts, for example ta moko.
- I will not copy or replicate another artists work.
Charges:
- my minimum charge is $150
- Quotes are estimated individually by design and not by hours taken to complete. If you are booked for a day this does relate to a specific number of hours.
- Quotes will allow for minor design tweaks, but any change of minds, or major design changes will need a new quote.
Do not book if:
- I do not tattoo pregnant or breastfeeding parents. Unfortunately this conflicts with my values around providing a safe, consensual, ethical tattoo practice and i am unable to compromise on this until there is concrete, supported evidence showing that it is safe to do so.
-If you plan on swimming or being in the sun two weeks prior to the tattoo
-If you have strenuous exercise planned or booked in the week or two following your tattoo
-If you have important plans / schedules the same day as your appointment. (Although I can give a time estimate for your piece I can never fully guarantee this time limit)
Aftercare:
Some key steps to take care of your tattoo while it heals
Your new tattoo is effectively an open would and should be treated a such
-The day of your tattoo you will be wrapped in some cling-film to protect the area. This should remain on for 2-3 hours and is there to safe guard your tattoo and protect it from unnecessary touching, scratching or picking.
-After a few hours it is safe to remove the cling-film. Pease do so with clean hands! Wash the tattoo with warm water and pat dry with a towel. Do not rub the tattoo at any point during the healing process. Always opt for showers instead of baths while healing a tattoo to avoid water exposure.
-Avoid swimming, direct sunlight or such activities as saunas / spas/ festivals/ hiking or any strenuous activity for two weeks after your new tattoo.
-Do not use skin products on your new tattoo that have not been recommended or are not intended for healing a tattoo. I often recommend palmers coco butter. Apply a thin layer of this 1-2 times a day or as you feel you need. Do not soak your tattoo in too much aftercare. Please avoid petroleum based products as they can negatively affect the healing of your tattoo.
-After a few day it is normal to experience some dryness and scabbing / flaking of the tattoo. It may appear ‘ugly’ or have a funny look to it for a few days - this is all normal so don’t panic. Just please don’t pick or scratch those flakes !
How to prepare:
To prepare for your tattoo:
- moisturize daily
- drink lots of water
- get plenty of quality sleep
- bring water with you
-bring low GI/complex carbohydrate snacks with you (muesli bars, protein filled sammies, Weetbix bites etc. are great!) or some of your favourite lollies
- have a substantial and balanced breakfast
- make a playlist or get a new book and bring some headphones - this helps get you into your zen place!
- avoid alcohol 48 hours prior to your appointment
-avoid excess caffeine 48 hours prior to your appointment (this will cause you to bleed more, which will require Lauren to wipe more, which will hurt a lot more)
- please avoid anti-inflammatories (including but not limited to Ibuprofen/Neurofen, Diclofenac/Voltaren, Naproxen, Celecoxib)
